Our University, which continues its “Access in Place” studies by YÖK, continues its infrastructure creation studies by recommending the platforms mentioned below in order to provide access to appropriate resources from other university libraries and institutions for our library and disabled users.
GEKOP (Visually Impaired Libraries Joint Platform), established under the leadership of Akdeniz, Kastamonu and Uşak Universities, provides access to 15 thousand books. Individual or personal registration is made to the platform and resources can be provided and presented to visually impaired users.
The works within GETEM (Boğaziçi University Visually Impaired Education Center) are not only produced by volunteer readers, but also obtained as a result of cooperation with other libraries serving the visually impaired. In addition, anyone who documents their visual impairment with a health report or disabled identity card can become a member of GETEM and the works within can be accessed from anywhere with internet or telephone 24/7. The works can be listened to directly from the website, downloaded to devices, copied to devices such as portable mp3 players and read wherever desired.
